By request, from Joe at the start of Lent

I wish to apologize for having wished publicly that Cdl. Roger Mahony's mother underwent an abortion while she was carrying him. Not only is abortion hideous but it insults those Catholics who revere the hierarchy and takes attention away from the man's episcopal performance. My previous comments served no purpose and unnecessarily offended bystanders.

Having said that, let me reiterate that Roger Mahony is a disgrace to the Church. He must be opposed. Any priests who live in his archdiocese and are reading this must unite and petition Rome for his removal. Rome will listen to the clergy more than the laity. This was how Cdl. Law was removed in Boston.

We all must understand that opposing monsters must not make us monsters.

Lent is not only a time for personal reflection and penance. It is a time to fight those who would take the Church down with them.

Neither do those who fight against "torture" have to come face-to-face with the consequences of their positions. After all, why should they care how many innocent lives are saved if somebody is "waterboarded"?

I live in Metropolitan Los Angeles. Who knows how many lives would have been effected by casualties, directly or indirectly, because of a massive terrorist attack?

But Shea doesn't give a damn about that. Neither does Cumerford. And if what the previous poster said about Cumerford is true, then Shea is a bigger tool for using him as an example.

Comerford is a pompous blowhard whose phony self-deprecation wouldn't fool a 10 year old. Hilarious to see the kudos he gets from the Sheabots who are left after Mark bans anyone who disagrees with him.

people like Comerford are put on this earth to give us a chance to exercise the virtues of patience and charity.

pray for him and don't let him make you nasty or mean-spirited.

Of course, fighting against "consequentialism" means never having to deal with moral reality. Just look at Shea and Cumerford. Shea routinely attacks those who challenge him, distorts their positions and creates rhetorical strong men while Cumerford lies about his backround and poses as somebody he's not.

Being charitable and patient does not conflict with being honest.

Hey! It's the blog nobody read any more! Still here as an edifice to the depths people will sink for the Fatherland.

Here's what you guys helped to make happen:

Take pride in your work.

Wow. Hard to believe it's been four years! And here the Coalition for Fog sits like the rusting hulk of the Bismarck on the floor of the blogospheric ocean. Good times! Good times!

Just thought I'd drop in and invite you all to celebrate the raise I got from Patheos since my traffic is going up. Salud!

Maybe somebody will find this site in a century or so when they are researching the self-destruction of American conservatism. I'll leave this note, sort of like a small commemorative plaque.
